Missio Dei starts up again on Sunday, August 23!

Missio Dei meets at 10:00 a.m. on Sundays at the Baptist Student Center at 711 South Main Street (going toward downtown from the Bluestone part of JMU’s campus). Missio Dei is open to all, but especially college students, young adults, people with a digital worldview, and people who are not comfortable with traditional worship.

Some key facts you need to know about this unique worship
experience:
t Dress is casual (shorts and flip-flops are standard).
t Breakfast is served every Sunday morning.
t Greenberry’s coffee is also served every Sunday morning.
t The worship site has a “coffee-house” feel – you can stand at bistro tables with your coffee and breakfast or sit in cushioned chairs with friends.
t The service has several interactive components –
o Stations you can visit during worship – the stations are designed to be interactive and reflective.
o Interactive teaching – you can text message questions you may have about the topic being discussed and interact with the teacher.

You can connect and find community through one of the small groups, which meets immediately following Missio Dei. After Missio Dei, these small groups may hike and have a devotional in the Shenandoah National Park, go out together as a group for lunch and discussion, or watch and discuss short films that feature issues young adults care about.
Missio Dei is jointly sponsored by Harrisonburg Baptist Church and JMU’s Christian Student Union.
About Our Name – Missio Dei is Latin for God’s mission. Mission is part of the very essence of God. We do not initiate the missio Dei – we can only join in it. The scriptures teach that “the end result of the missio Dei is the glorification of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. 1

2 Both the first letters are uppercase in Missio and Dei when used as the proper name of our worship gathering. When referring to the mission of God, the first letter in missio is lower case and the first letter in Dei is upper case. We wanted to make that clear for English majors and the curious.
